Our favourite places for a great coffee on The English Riviera
Well, we don't think anyone could have anticipated what has happened this week. We certainly didn't expect things to happen quite so quickly.
We have now been officially shut, along with all other accommodation providers in the UK, until further notice.
Along with the majority of the country, we have been staying at home and staying safe.
So, what have you missed doing the most this week?
We have missed going out for a coffee - combined with walking this is one of our favourite things to do when the kids are at school.
Especially when the sun is shining 😎
To remind us all of the amazing places we have on The English Riviera to enjoy a coffee, we thought we would share some of our favourites with you.
Three Degrees West on Oddicombe Beach has to be our favourite. At this time of year you can drive down and park at the bottom of the cliff road, but in the summer months you can take the Cliff Railway down and enjoy the stunning views. It is one of those places where a coffee quickly leads to a drink and then lunch, as you just don't want to leave!
The Bistro at The Princess Theatre isn't an obvious choice, but it is a great location to sit and watch the world go by, looking out over the harbour and the bay. If the weather is nice, they have a small terrace to sit out on too. It's not too far to walk either!
The Meadfoot Beach Cafe is another stunning location to sit and enjoy a coffee, or two. We normally walk there along the South West Coast Path, but you can drive if you want to.
The Offshore Restaurant and Bar in Torquay Harbour is another one of those places where a coffee quickly turns into a longer affair! They serve great food and offer a really good selection of beers, ales and wines. There is lots of outside seating, so plenty of space to sit and enjoy the afternoon sun.
Firestone Kitchen at Kents Cavern is somewhere else that may not be an obvious place to head to. They serve amazing coffee and cakes! There may not be a sea view, but the view across the valley to Ilsham Marine Drive is just as good. You can decide which house would you like to live in 🤔
The Curious Kitchen in Brixham is the last on our list. We have visited on a number of occasions, either for coffee and cake or a delicious brunch. This cafe is a bit off the beaten track up by the bus station, but it is well worth the extra walk 😉
So, what have you been up to this week?
After one week of lockdown the children are still alive..... Just 🤣
We have been doing lots in the garden, as the weather has been so good. The kids have been planting lots of seeds, so hopefully there will be no shortage of carrots, sweetcorn, tomatoes, strawberries and pumpkins in our house! We'll keep you posted on their progress.
Now all we need to do is plan how to keep them occupied for another seven days.... any ideas?
Thank you to all of you that replied to our email last week - it is so lovely to hear from you.
Keep in touch and, most importantly, stay safe.
Best wishes from all of us.
